Swap-Bot: Show Us Your Jewelry!

Standard

Another swap for swap-bot! This one is for the group Electronic Swaps, which, as you can imagine, a group dedicated to electronic (e-mail, pintrest, etc.) swaps. This lovely swap has the directions to, as the title suggests “Show us your jewelry”. So, here are some of my favorite pieces!

catsThese earrings are among the “cheapest” that I have, but I hold them very dear. They belonged to my aunt, who passed away almost two years ago now. They are plastic, and I don’t wear them very often, but when ever I miss my aunt I take them out and wear them and feel like she’s a bit nearer to me.fire opals

Looking over my jewelry for this post, I realized that I have a lot of earnings that I consider my favorite. I don’t wear them near as often as I should. Most of my jewelry comes from my fiance. He has for many years worked as a jeweler, not the one who makes the pieces, but the one who sells them. I feel he has excellent taste. These are the most recent pair he gave me, just last month in act, or our 7th anniversary.

pearls

I “prompted” my fiance for close to two years to get my pearls. And at last, I received these for my birthday several years ago. The hearts on it are rose gold, and, it’s hard to see in the picture, but there are little “diamonds” between them and the pearls. I love to wear these ones.

terqouise

Another gift from my fiance. This year for valentines. I went to pull them out of my jewelry box and the hooks were all wonky. Not sure what happened with that. I love the turquoise. I actually have two other pair, but this is my newest and so my current “favorite”.
TARDIS

Oh, how I love Doctor Who! These were, again, a gift from my fiance. I can’t remember what occasion garnered me this gift, but it came with a game of Doctor Who Yahtzee (it’s in the shape of a Dalek). These are really heavy, and pull on my ear, so I only wear them for a few hours at a time.

to the moon and back

I don’t often wear things on my wrists. I spend too much time typing for work and they just get in the way. But this bracelet, given to me for Christmas a few years ago by my fiance, is an exception. I love the sentiment.

ringsThe ring on the left was given to me by my fiance for our first Christmas together. We had been talking about marriage and when I unwrapped the ring box, I have to say, I was a more than a bit excited. It was hard to hide my disappointment at opening the box and seeing a ring that was most definitely NOT an engagement ring. *sigh* He couldn’t figure out why I was disappointed, it’s a nice ring after all. Anyway, the one on the right came with a warning not to get my hopes up. It’s still a nice ring, I like the rose gold hearts on the sides the best (they sort of match the pearl earrings up above).

engage

This is the one piece of jewelry that I wear every day. My engagement ring. I picked out this ring almost six years ago. We wont embarrass my fiance by asking how long he held on to it before actually asking me to marry him. I love this ring. It’s got a touch on “antique” style, and a timeless look. I did right in picking it, and he did right in buying it.
